From January 4 to 6, the 3rd Sanya International Congress of Seed Industry Scientists and 2024 International Seed Industry Science and Technology Expo was held in Sanya. This year's conference invited more than 30 Chinese and foreign academicians, more than 100 college and university presidents and deans of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences as guests to attend the conference and make reports. In the main forum, Li Jiayang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of Yazhou Bay Laboratory, Zhai Huqu, former president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and chairman of the Sanya-International Seed Industry Scientists Consortium, Wan Jianmin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of the Crops Society of China, vice chairman of the International Agricultural Think Tank of the China Society for the Promotion of International Cooperation in Agriculture, and executive vice chairman of the Sanya-International Seed Industry Scientists Consortium, Qian Qian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of Yazhou Bay Laboratory, and Wan Jianmin, deputy director of the China Academy of Engineering. Qian Qian, Deputy Director of Yazhou Bay Laboratory, Zhang Xianlong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of Huazhong Agricultural University, and Thelma L Soriano, Director of Seed Regulatory Affairs of Crop Science Asia, shared their views and insights on the topics of germplasm innovation, bio-breeding, gene mining, seed trade, and the construction of seed national laboratories, as well as their respective valuable experiences in research and practice in the related fields.
